Most of what goes wrong in a build was decided in the design.
Once you have chosen a platform, our certified teams design how it will work inside your institution. That covers the solution architecture, integrations, data, security and how the platform will be run. Your owners sign the design off before the build starts, so the build begins from decisions that are already made.
Design shortcuts come back as rework.
Under schedule pressure, design is the stage teams are most tempted to compress. Requirements are left loose, integrations are assumed, and security and operations are deferred to “later”. The build then fills the gaps with guesses, and each guess has to be found and undone during testing, when changes cost the most.
A sound design also protects the choice you made. A platform configured against its grain, or customized where the standard would have done, gets harder to upgrade every year. We design close to the platform’s standard and record why each exception is worth its cost.
What design covers.
-
Requirements and fit
We work through your processes and requirements with the people who own them, and map each one to what the platform does as standard. Gaps are named early, each with an option and a cost.
-
Solution architecture
How the platform sits in your estate: environments, components, integrations and where the data lives. Each significant decision is recorded in Architecture 360 with its reasoning.
-
Integration and data design
Interfaces, data flows, migration scope and data quality rules, agreed with the owners of the systems and data on both sides of each connection.
-
Security and compliance by design
Identity, access, encryption, residency and logging are designed against the Kingdom’s cybersecurity and data requirements, so compliance is part of the build instead of a review at the end.
-
Operability and the build plan
How the platform will be monitored, supported and upgraded, and a build plan with its releases, environments and test strategy, so implementation can start on its first day.
Agreed in steps, signed off before the build.
-
Understand
Workshops with process and system owners confirm scope, requirements and constraints.
-
Shape
The harder decisions get options, compared on fit, cost and risk, and settled with your design authority.
-
Detail
Detailed design for configuration, integrations, data and security, reviewed against the partner’s reference architecture and our standards.
-
Sign off
Your owners approve the design and the build plan. Implementation starts from that baseline in TMO 360.
What a good design gives you.
-
Fewer surprises in testing
Questions are answered on paper, where changing the answer is cheap.
-
A platform you can upgrade
Customization stays the exception, and each one has a reason on record.
-
Compliance built in
Security and residency controls sit in a design your auditors can read.
-
A build that starts on time
The implementation team begins with decisions made and a plan agreed.
