Telecommunications & Technology

Connectivity is the foundation. The platform is the business.

Saudi operators have built advanced national networks. Growth now depends on what runs on top of them: cloud, data centers, digital services and AI. GTech helps operators and technology firms reorganize to compete there.

01Context

From connectivity to digital infrastructure.

Saudi telecom operators moved early on 5G and extended it across the country quickly. Core connectivity, however, is a mature market with limited room to grow. The opportunity has moved to adjacent businesses: data centers and cloud, enterprise digital services, payments and the infrastructure the national AI agenda will need. The sector regulator’s expanded remit across communications, space and technology reflects the same widening of scope.

The shift is demanding. New businesses need different talent, operating models and capital discipline from the core network, and the core itself must become leaner to fund them. Data residency, sovereign cloud requirements and cybersecurity obligations shape every architecture decision. Operators that simplify their estates and run each business on its own economics will be able to compete with global hyperscalers and partner with them on their own terms.

02Priorities

What operators are building next.

  • New growth engines

Building data center, cloud, cybersecurity and enterprise digital businesses, each with its own operating model, governance and investment case.

  • A leaner core

Retiring legacy IT and network systems, modernizing the platforms that serve customers and run operations, and automating routine work to release capital for growth.

  • Sovereign cloud and data

Designing cloud offers and architectures that meet the Kingdom’s data residency and security requirements for government and regulated customers.

  • AI across the operator

Applying AI to network planning, customer service and sales while governing models and data with the rigor expected of critical national infrastructure.

03Our approach

How we help operators make the shift.

  1. Portfolio and operating model strategy

We help leadership decide which adjacent businesses to build, buy or partner for, then design the structures, governance and performance management each one needs.

  2. Cloud and sovereign platform design

We shape sovereign and hybrid cloud strategies, build the sovereign landing zones operators can offer to government and regulated customers, and set up the cloud center of excellence and FinOps practice that run them.

  3. IT and cost simplification

We baseline technology spend, consolidate overlapping applications and contracts, and sequence the modernization of customer and operations platforms in steps the business can absorb.

  4. AI at operator scale

We build the governance, data foundations and engineering practices that carry AI from isolated use cases into production services across the network, customer operations and the enterprise.
